New York

Brad had to work in New York the week after Christmas so for my Christmas present he took me with him for a mini-vacation.  It was my first time away from both kiddo's.  I hated leaving them the day after Christmas but I knew they would enjoy their time with the my mom and dad and I knew it would be great for Brad and me to have a mini-vacation.

We drove over to Jackson, MS early Monday morning (the day after Christmas) before the kids even woke up to fly to New York.

On the plane heading to New York
Our plan had been to fly into New York and go straight to the World Trade Center Memorial but our flight out of Jackson was delayed.  We ended up arriving in New York after the World Trade Center Memorial had closed for the evening so we had to make alternate plans.  I had contacted a high school friend that lives in New York and asked her for suggestions/recommendations for what we should do while we were in NY.  She told me she was going to be watching the Saints game at a local place that night so we decided to meet up with her to watch the Saints game with all the Saints fans we could find!

The place we ended up going to was packed with Saint's fans!!  Who knew you could find so many Saints fans in New York.  I think Brad was pleasantly surprised to be able to watch the game.  Since going to NY was my Christmas present he wasn't going to mention it but I knew he would enjoy watching the game.  Plus he was able to watch Drew Bree's break the NFL record for yards passed in a season.

Tuesday was our only day we were able to spend in the city together since Brad was going to be working on Wednesday & Thursday.  We tried to do as much as we could on Tuesday.  Trying to see all of NY in one day just isn't possible but we were able to see a lot and have a great day!  We walked into a few shops then came across an ice skating rink in Bryant Park.  Brad had never been ice skating and I've only gone once when I was little so we decided to give it a try.

Ice Skating turned out to be so much fun.  I could have ice skated all day but we had lots to see/do in NY.

After ice skating we stopped and had lunch to recharge for the rest of our day.

We walked, walked & walked more trying to see all we could of the city.  It ended up raining pretty hard all afternoon but that didn't stop us from trying to see as much as we could.  We did make a quick stop in the Beretta store so Brad could look around and we could attempt to dry off.

Wednesday morning we woke up early hoping we could see the sunrise at the Top of Rock but it didn't open until 8AM which was after sunrise.  But luckily the Today Show taping was going on just across the street so I joined in on the action.

I ended up on TV that morning.  I called my parents to let them know and Cain ended up seeing me on TV.  We thought it would but cute for him to see me but he was excited at first and then ended up upset for short while after seeing me on TV.  He wasn't sad very long since was having so much fun with my parents.

Brad worked in New York all day Wednesday & Thursday so I spent the day roaming the city just looking around and most importantly shopping!!  This trip made me fall in love with New York and I'm already ready to go back.

I told Brad he needs to plan his work schedule so he always has to work in New York the week after Christmas.  Doesn't that sound like a good idea?

I'm back...

I bet you are shocked to see a new post on our blog!!!  Sorry if you have been checking in and you are still having to look at the same Christmas pictures over and over that I posted back in January.  I've had a little trouble with my computer but think I have some of that worked out so now it is time to do major catching up.  I know we just celebrated Valentine's Day yesterday but I still have Christmas pictures to post so bare with me!

We were in Louisiana with my family for Christmas and the first day home we took the kids to the local Children's Museum.

Getting to look back at these pictures that were just taken at Christmas (less than 2 months ago) makes me realize how fast the kids are growing up.  Callie is already much bigger than she was in these pictures!

On Christmas Eve we traveled to Vicksburg to celebrate Christmas with my Dad's side of the family.  This is probably my favorite part of Christmas every year because it's one of the few times a year (if the only time of year) that I am able to be with all of my cousins at once!  I don't think we will all be able to fit in one house in a few years if everyone keeps having kids.

It will be a miracle if we can ever get everyone to look at the camera and for all the kids to be willing to have their picture made.  As you can see Cain was not having it!
Callie with her sweet cousins Eden & Ella.  I wish we lived closer to them so Callie could play with them all the time.

My cousin Jennifer, her husband Kevin and Ella

Evan and my cousin Angie
Cain playing with the toy he gave Seth
Thomas the train...his favorite!
Cain with his cousin Charlie & Blair.  I think Cain looks so big in this picture.
My cousin Kirk aka Dr. Ring
All the girl cousins
My dad had to get in a picture with all his pretty nieces.  He is a proud Uncle!
Kaleb and Drew
My cousin Charlie with his son Drew (the newest baby to the group of cousins)
My dad with his brother (Uncle Mike) and Callie & Drew

I couldn't be more grateful for all my Aunts, Uncles, and great group of cousins.  They all mean the world to me.  I'm so glad Cain & Callie have so many cousins!

We spent Christmas day at my parents.  It was so much fun this year!  Callie was just a few weeks old last year so this year was certainly different.  She was into everything this year.

Mom bought Callie this coat for Christmas and I think she looked soooooo cute in it.  Miss Priss!

And as if this weren't enough Christmas pictures...I still have more to post! Stay tuned...
